Introducing Speculative Technologies

What we've been working on!

There is a (hopefully) good reason for the relative low volume and abstract nature of this newsletter’s posts so far: I’ve been spending the majority of my time implementing my own advice from the “Private ARPA User Manual.”

We’re excited to announce the launch of Speculative Technologies — a new nonprofit research organization. Our mission is to create an abundant, wonder-filled future by unlocking powerful materials and manufacturing technologies that don’t have a home in other institutions. Speculative Technologies runs research programs across multiple organizations to derisk technologies that are too long-term, unjustifiable, multidisciplinary or public-goods oriented for other institutions.

Going forward, this newsletter will bring much more regular updates about what we’re up to and lessons learned.

Speculative Technologies is an institutional experiment. Good experiments have good documentation and you can think of this newsletter as our lab notebook!
